NOTES
Additional Information:THIS BUILDING HAS A BROWNSTONE FOUNDATION. TODAY THIS CHURCH IS OCCUPIED BY THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, WHICH ORIGINALLY OCCUPIED A NOW DEMOLISHED BUILDING LOCATED ON E. 5TH ST. THAT WAS BUILT IN 1895 AS THE WARREN M.E. CHURCH. WHEN THE METHODISTS TOOK OVER THE PRESENT CHURCH, THE DATESTONE FROM THEIR ORIGINAL BUILDING, WHICH SAYS "WARREN M.E. CHURCH, 1895," WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE FOUNDATION WALL OF THE FORMER CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.

In 1937, the Methodists in Hancock, WI (40 miles from Madison, WI) exchanged the use of their church for the Congregational Church in Washburn, since Congregationalism was decreasing in Washburn and Methodism was increasing.
