Additional Information: | Designed by Robert Meyer, a WWII veteran and member of the Walter Miller Amvet Post #5. The bronze sculpture, fabricated by Robert Meyer and placed on top of the monument, was stolen in the early 1970s. The flagpole was removed in May of 2009. Inscription reads "In Memory of those who gave their lives in World War Two". Currently being restored (2009). A 'site file' titled "World War II Monument" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. |
