Additional Information: | This one-and-one-half-story, Tudor Revival-inspired house is side-gabled and features clipped-gable end walls. The majority of the house is covered with stucco, while the primary (east) elevation features brick trim beneath the window level, as well as around the entryway. The slightly projecting front entrance is gabled and features a catslide roof. A large, red brick chimney dominates the space to the right of the round-arched doorway and rises to the height of the home's overall roofline. A single six-over-one-light sash window rests to the right (north) of the entry, while a paired example is located to the left (south). Windows throughout the remainder of the home include both single and paired sash examples. The home#25;s original, painted cedar siding was recently replaced with the current stucco and brick siding. According to information supplied by the home's current owner, this is a Montgomery Ward mail-order home that was built in 1931, which would have been the last year that Montgomery Ward was in the mail-order home business. The subject house was erected by Arthur Zimbal for his daughter Lorraine and son-in-law Elmer Richter, who wed in August 1931. The home's current owner, Wayne LeClair, purchased the house in the 1970s. Within the last few years, he has removed the original, cedar-shingle siding and replaced it with the existing stucco and brick sheathing. |
