"St. Patrick's is the third oldest Catholic parish in the city, having been created to accommodate large numbers of people who could not be served by St. Raphael's. The Romanesque revival style building was designed by John Nader, a pioneer Madison architect and civil engineer. Nader came to Madison in 1873. Since it's dedication no St. Patrick's Day in 1889, the parish has maintained a strong Irish membership. A growth in the congregation necessitated a widening of the church in 1902. Major renovation to stabilize the building was undertaken in 1957." Madison's Pioneer Buildings: A Downtown Walking Tour, 1987.
