F IN PHOTO CODE STANDS FOR FOX CANAL SURVEY. SEE FRV BB/17 FOR ADDITIONAL PHOTOS. THE STRUCTURE-EXCLUSIVE OF THE MORE RECENT CINDER BLOCK ADDITIONS TO THE EAST-OCCUPIES A SITE MEASURING 156' ALONG THE EAST WEST AXIS AND VARIES BETWEEN 15' AND 40' ALONG THE NORTH SOUTH AXIS. THE STRUCTURE REFLECTS THE ADDITIVE QUALITY OF ITS DEVELOPMENT WITH A VARIETY OF FOUNDATION MATERIALS RANGING FROM WOOD PIERS AND STONE TO CONCRETE SLAB. THE OLDER SECTIONS ARE TIMBER FRAMED (POST AND LINTEL) WITH METAL SIDING. LATER ADDITIONS ARE CONSTRUCTED OF CONCRETE BLOCK. THE CORE OF THIS STRUCTURE WAS CONSTRUCTED BETWEEN 1894 AND 1900 BY THE SOUTH KAUKAUNA GRAIN CO. AT THIS TIME THE STRUCTURE CONSISTED OF AN ELEVATOR WITH A 15,000 BUSHEL CAPACITY FLANKED BY A SINGLE STORY FLOUR AND FEED MILL TO THE WEST AND A SMALLER RECEIVING ROOM AND STABLE TO THE EAST. BY 1906 THE ELEVATOR HAD DOUBLED ITS CAPACITY AND THE ANCILLARY STRUCTURES STOOD AT TWO STORIES WITH CONSIDERABLE LATERAL EXPANSION TOWARD THE EAST. BY 1913, UNDER MARSHALL AND HAMMEL THE STRUCTURE REACHED ITS CURRENT DIMENSIONS IN PLAN. THE ELEVATOR WAS PURCHASED BY THE FARMERS ELEVATOR CO. IN THE MID TO LATE TEENS AND BECAME CARSTENS ELEVATOR IN 1939.

2015- This building has been demolished, date unknown.
