Articles of incorporation were filed in 1888 by Herman Rudolph, Robert Nunnemacher, Charles Pfister, and H.N. Benjamin to form the Edison Illuminating and Power Co. Failing to produce an active company, articles were refiled in 1889 by Charles F. Ilsley, Charles Ray, and D.M. Benjamin. It was here in 1919 that the first pulverized coal burning power plant was put into action.
