Additional Information: | ORIGINAL STOREFRONT HAS BEEN REPLACED SINCE BUILDING FIRST SURVEYED IN 1983. TRANSOMED DOORS, BRICK WORK IN CORNICE PAIRED 2ND FLR WINDOWS [Date Cnst:(ASSESSOR'S RECORD)] 2010- Sanborn-Perris maps of Superior show that this freestanding building was once one of a row of commercial buildings, all the rest have now been demolished. 2025: This two-story, commercial vernacular building was constructed in 1921. It is of brick construction with a rectangular plan on a concrete foundation. The roof is flat with a small parapet topped with masonry and accented by a simple patterned brickwork cornice. The front (west) facade features a modified storefront on the first story. It is infilled with wood siding, a metal door, and two small, vinyl, sliding windows. A secondary wood door provides access to the second story. Above the storefront is a metal sign that reads “Last Resort.” The second story features four replacement, one-over-one, vinyl windows with metal storms and brick sills. The side (north) elevation features an entryway near the rear with a projecting wood gable vestibule. Above the entryway is a single, one-over-one, vinyl window. The second story has one, one-over-one, vinyl window; metal signs; and a section that has been removed. The side (south) elevation features metal signs and one-over-one vinyl windows with decorative brick lintels and sills. A detached shed is located at the rear (east) elevation. |
