Additional Information: | TALL ROUND ARCH WINDOWS W/ STILTED LINTELS W/ KEYSTONES BRICK CORBELLED CORNICE*SEGMENTAL ARCH KEYSTONED "LINTEL" OVER 2ND FLR CENTER BAY2ND FLR CORBELLED LINTEL COURSE1ST FLR APPEARS ORIGINAL 2022 - Resurveyed. This commercial vernacular building was constructed c.1880. It is a two-story brick building with a rectilinear footprint, parapeted flat roof, and a brick and stone foundation. It has a corbeled cornice with corbeled pilasters at each corner and between each bay on the north elevation that extend above the parapet. A corbeled belt course extends across the façade above the second story windows. The belt course is interrupted by a projecting segmental arch with a stone keystone that frames the two center windows. A second, denticulated, painted brick cornice extends across the façade above the first story store front with a fabric covered pent roof projecting from below sheltering the store front. The centered front entrance is recessed and accessed by a modern wooden access ramp extending to the south and steps to the north. The original storefront windows have been infilled with a synthetic material and smaller horizontal sliding windows. The second story windows are boarded up and have segmentally arched hood molds with stone keystones and stone sills. A sign is suspended over the storefront from a metal bar projecting from between the two center, second story windows. The sign is double sided and reads “Bernie’s Wagon Wheel II Bar & Restaurant.” A large mural has been painted on the second bay first floor on the north elevation. |
