Additional Information: | STILTED FLAT ARCH LINTELS. BRICK WALL PILASTERS W/UNUSUAL CORBELLED CAPS. DEEPLY CORBELLED CORNICE. MAY HAVE BEEN A HOTEL. PORCH A LATER ADDITION. 2022 - Resurveyed. This commercial vernacular building was constructed in 1895. It is a three-story brick building with a rectilinear footprint, parapeted flat roof topped with metal coping, and a brick foundation. It has a corbeled cornice and four pilasters extending the entire height of the façade that are corbeled at the top. The façade has five bays and two of the pilasters surround the center bay. A date stone, engraved with 1895, is inset in the brick between the cornice and center window bay. The first story of the façade has three replacement doors including one in the center bay topped with a transom. The door and large replacement window south of the centered door are also topped with transom windows. The door to the north has an infilled transom window and a larger window that has been infilled with brick, wood and a small horizontal sliding window. Concrete steps provide access to the doors. A metal fire escape and partial width, shed roof porch with access ramps on each side, has been removed from the façade since it was last surveyed. The upper story windows are topped with segmentally arched brick drip molds with stone lug sills. The first story fenestration is topped with segmentally arched, brick hood molding. Most of the windows have been replaced with vinyl one-over-one units but the second story windows have been fitted with smaller fixed or casement vinyl replacements. Glass block foundation windows are visible on the south elevation. A one-story, shed roof addition is appended to the west elevation and clad in metal siding. |
