Additional Information: | New entry vestibule added after 1975. Resurveyed 2016: St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church was constructed in 1883 in a Gothic Revival style. It is rectangular in plan with brick walls and an asphalt-shingled gable roof. The front elevation faces south and is symmetrical in plan with a 1-story entry bay (added after 1975) spanning the façade. The south side of the entry addition contains a central gable-roofed bay containing a gothic-arched window. Smaller gothic-arched windows are located on each side. Decorative brick corbelling runs the perimeter of the entry bay’s roofline. The building’s primary entrance is located in the east side of the entry bay. The façade of the original building mass is dominated by a large, square bell tower that projects through the center of the roof peak. The bell tower contains bands of brick corbelling between each story. A pair of gothic-arched windows is located at its second story, the placement of which is mirrored by louvered panels above. Clock faces have been added to each side of the bell tower at its upper level, above which projects an asphalt-shingled steeple. Regularly spaced gothic-arched windows are located along each side elevation; each window is separated from the others by narrow brick buttresses with stone caps. 2017: No apparent changes since last surveyed. |
