Additional Information: | ALTERED 1ST FLR. FRONT ORIGINALLY IN BRICK AND BROWNSTONE. ROUND & SEGMENTAL ARCH 2ND FLR LINTELS W/BROWNSTONE LINTEL COURSE. ROUND ARCH WINDOWS W/FANLIGHT TRANSOMS. BRICKWORK CORNICE AND PARAPET. METAL MOULDED CORNICES AND PARAPET. 2018: Constructed in 1895, this rectangular two-story commercial vernacular building is clad in brick. It features a flat roof with a brick parapet with an altered decorative cornice. The roofline also features two pediments that intersect the roofline, peaks of which have since been removed, and the name and date plaques originally in the pediments has been plastered over. The first story features two square, fixed windows that flanked a recessed double entrance door. The south side of the front (east) facade features an addition glass door in a recessed opening framed by a brick entryway. The columns are mirrored on the right side of the facade, where they frame a one-over-one, double-hung, replacement window. The fenestration on the second story is generally one-over-one, double-hung windows with both arched and square lintels. Built by J.H. Foster & Son and designed by F.A. Weston, the C.C. Kelleher Building housed a hardware store when it opened in 1895. The basement had a tin shop and dealt with other heavy hardware, while the first floor contained a hardware store and a crockery and glass department. The second story held some goods from the department store and six offices. In the 1930s the State Bank moved operations from their previous building (AHI No. 19161) to the subject building, until the building was sold to Wells Fargo, who operated it until June 2018. |
