Date of construction from the Milwaukee County database. This resource is located in Sheridan Park, which is part of the Lake Michigan South Parkway. 2018: The Sheridan Park Bath House was constructed in 1937 in a modest Colonial Revival style. It is irregular in plan with brick walls and a central hipped roof with projecting flat-roofed wings. A tall brick chimney projects from the hipped roof mass behind a wood-frame cupola. The primary elevation faces northwest (toward the approach from the park) and contains a projecting bay with a stone portico with three rounded arch openings. Above the arches, carved stone panels depict stylized water animal scenes. Inside the portico are multi-pane French doors. The majority of other windows have been boarded shut, but the window openings remain with the original stone sills. Individual doors are located in the southwest and northeast sides of the building. |
