Additional Information: | Photo code #2: BR-FRV 1/16,17. Photo code #3: 75BR-10/14. Very good commercial building of polygonal shape with a rounded north facing corner. Building rests on a cut stone foundation, with a massive rusticated brownstone course above it which has a smaller brownstone cap. The rusticated brownstone is also used for the canted entrance door surround. Although the door is now blocked, the surround is still intact and has a pediment above whose horizontal cornice is extended around both facades and is supported by massive brownstone brackets below. The original display window openings are intact and are topped by a heavy brownstone stringcourse acting as a lintel. A thinner brownstone stringcourse above acts as the 2nd floor window sills. All second floor windows are flat-arched with keystone lintels above whose keystones are cut stones while the lintels are of brick. Brick pilasters with Ionic Order capitals frame the Main Street second floor windows and the same bay adjacent to the entrance on the Forest Street facade. These pilasters spring from rusticated brownstone brackets below and corbelled out from the facade. The building has a pierced parapet above. Green Bay Intensive Survey Phases 2, 3 & 4 |
