Currently used as the Rhinelander K-12 school district headquarters.[A] 315 South Oneida Street Curran Elementary School This two-story, side-gabled, brick Collegiate Gothic school was built in 1935. The architects were (James) Law, (Edward) Law and (Ellis) Potter, a prominent Madison firm (Rhinelander Daily News, November 19, 1991). The building has parapeted gable-ends; quoining; and a slightly projecting entrance pavilion with a shouldered, gabled parapet, a segmental-arched entrance with a stone label molding, and a polygonal oriel window. The grouped windows have been reduced with metal panels, but the original multipaned sash appear to be intact behind the panels. The Curran School served elementary students for many years. It has been the headquarters for the Rhinelander School District since at least 1991. |
