NOTES
Additional Information:A/k/a 301 S. Monroe Avenue. Good example of the style. The church has a cruciform plan roof with the cross bar of the T plan facing onto S. Monroe Avenue. This addition was built in 1929 and houses the sanctuary; the bell tower on the Stuart Street (north facing) facade also dates from this year. The triple window groups of the bell chamber of the tower are the same as those above the large painted arch window on the north facing facade of this addition. The earlier 1910 portion of the building is behind the later Monroe Avenue addition. This portion has grouped lancet windows between buttresses lining the north and south facades. Each window is divided into an upper and lower portion by wide wooden spandrels. The brick walls of this portion are of a slightly different color than the later front portion. The final design represents a good fusion of designs from two differemt periods. POLYCHROMATIC DECORATION ON POINTED ARCH WINDOWS. STRONG ENGLISH GOTHIC CHARACTER SQUARE TOWER [Date Cnst:-1926 source: plaque] A group of French-speaking Belgians formed a Presbyterian parish in 1873. The following year, this group purchased a church belonging to a German Methodist congregation, which they used until 1885. A new church was built on this site in that year, and was used until 1907. The present church at 612 Stuart Street was built in 1910. Services were conducted in French until 1916. Remodeled in 2003 by the design and advertising firm Arketype, Inc. for their offices. Determination of Eligibility completed for this property in September 2008 Green Bay Intensive Survey Phases 2, 3 & 4
