NOTES
Additional Information:John Dalton received a land patent from the US Government for the property (80 acres) in 1846. According to Jim Sherin, the current property owner (2011), the first portion of the house was constructed in 1846 by John Whiteman, a farmer. John Whiteman was born about 1820 in Pennsylvania. John Dalton probably sold his land immediately to John Whiteman. The 1850 US Census records confirms John Whiteman's residency in Delavan Township, and the earliest available historic atlas showing land ownership (1873), corroborates his presence and ownership of the property. John Whiteman is also indicated on the 1891 map, with the same acreage depicted. According to Jim Sherin, John Whiteman remained the property owner until his death in 1912. The next available map (1921) indicates F.L. Chapman as the property owner. F.L. Chapman owned the property through at least 1930. The current property owner and historic atlases indicate that the property changed hands numerous times from about the time of the Great Depression through the 1940s. In 1952, Julia Fries became the owner, of which she remained through the 1970s. The 1970s were a turning point for the property, as most of the land paralleling STH 67 was sold off for smaller residential development. After Julia Fries death, in 1981, the house was sold by extended family to Jim Sherin, the current owner; also at this time all but about 10 acres of land from approximately 80-acre parcel was sold off.

Other records associated with with property are the barn (AHI # 217922) and the root cellar (AHI # 217923).
