Additional Information: | The Republican House Hotel was built in 1906 by Arnold Daniels. It was constructed by Joseph Hutter. In 1909, Daniels trading the hotel to Henry J. Holle for a 180-acre farm in the nearby Town of Erin. Holle did plan a third floor addition that would increase hotel capacity by sixteen rooms, but it was never built. The first floor originally contained a dining room for hotel patrons, but it later was converted to a restaurant and then a tavern. From 1940 until 1954, the building was known as the Holle Tavern & Hotel, and the Towne Club-Towne House from 1954 to 1964. From 1950 until 1979, the building also contained a laundromat, café and then a beauty salon before the Pour House (a tavern) took over the building’s entire first floor. |
