Additional Information: | This one-room log school house was built in 1865 and it is now the oldest school house remaining in Door County. The original school distirct consisted of the Sister Bay, Appleport, Rowley's Bay and Wildwood and the original location of this building was north of Sister Bay and it was used as a school until 1881, when new schools were built to replace it. The building was in private ownership until it was deeded to the Door County Historical Society, which restored it and moved it to its present location in 1976. The windows are modern equivalents of the original ones. |
