Additional Information: | 2021 - Parson’s Indian Trading Post is a stucco-clad Pueblo Revival-style building that serves as a museum and gift shop. The original trading post building, a one-story log structure, was built in 1918 and was located where the current museum is (the northern third of the building). It was replaced by the museum in the 1970s. The middle of the building was built in 1927, while the southern third of the building is a 1990s addition. Overall, the building has a broad rectangular footprint with its long side parallel to USH 12 (Wisconsin Dells Parkway). A flat roof porch extends across the full width of the façade and is supported by round wood posts. The one-story northern and southern thirds of the building have a false front with a flat parapet roof accentuated with exposed wood beams (viga). The three-story middle of the building consists of three progressively smaller box-like forms stacked on each other. |
