| Additional Information: | This property consists of a house (AHI#221049), a large barn (AHI#221050), a small unidentified outbuilding (included in photo of AHI#221050), as well as a modern garage. The two-story house is side-gabled in form and is covered with both stone veneer and board siding. A front porch comprised of a circa-1950s, flat-roofed enclosed portion, as well as an open porch with metal supports extends from the west side of the house, while a one-story flat-roofed wing also extends from the rear (east). A wooden railing encircles both the front and rear porch roofs. Windows throughout the house are one-over-one-light, double-hung sash examples. To the south of the house is a significantly large, side-gabled, frame barn on a concrete block foundation. A pair of sliding wooden doors occupies the west side of the structure, while a pair of metal ventilators occupies the roof’s ridge. A small unidentified outbuilding is located between the house and the barn. The subject property was purchased by William Gotter by no later than 1875; a house was extant by no later than 1889. Gotter, the son of Frederick and Anna Gotter, was born in Germany in 1849. One year later, the Gotter family immigrated to the United States, settling in Sheboygan Township, Wisconsin. At the age of twenty, William left the family farm in the Town of Lima and engaged in farming thereafter. In 1880, he married Mary Heinze and together they had six children. Gotter owned the farm until at least 1916. Following Gotter, the farm was owned in 1930 by O. Thielman, about whom no information is known. By no later than 1955, the property has been owned by the Bollmann family. The alterations to the house, which appear to date to the 1950s, were likely done by the Bollmann family. |
