Bernard Nietschmann was a surety and bonds salesman for Joyce & Co. of Chicago and he moved to Milwaukee to head the Joyce & Co. office in Milwaukee. The family returned to Chicago in 1933 and sold the house to Barrett & Harriet Rogers.
