| Additional Information: | Built in 1966, this commercial property was formerly Christ Lutheran Church of Mequon. The single-story Contemporary building is comprised of a rectangular main sanctuary block connected to an L-shaped classroom or community wing by a small hyphen at the rear (east) elevation. The main block has a concrete foundation, walls clad in stone veneer, and a steeply pitched, asphalt-shingled roof with curving, flared eaves whose broad overhangs are supported by large exposed rafter beams resting on stone veneer buttresses. Between the buttresses, the wall planes of both eaves sides are composed entirely of tall narrow windows interspersed irregularly with solid panels of similar width. The flat-roofed hyphen continues the buttresses and rafter beams of the sanctuary, and the main entrance is located where the hyphen meets the wing, containing a large glass double-door. The side-gable wing has walls clad in vertical wooden siding and a pent roof wraps around the gable ends. Window openings contain pairs of tall single-light fixed sash above small awning sash. A steeple appears to have been removed from the ridgeline of the roof at the south elevation, and the property now functions as a private business rather than a religious property. |
