NOTES
Additional Information:HENRY BEEBE CRANDALL WAS ONE OF THE EARLIEST SETTLERS IN MILTON, A CONTEMPORARY WITH JOSEPH GOODRICH AND OF ALMOST AS MUCH IMPORTANCE IN GETTING THE VILLAGE OF MILTON STARTED. HIS HOME SAT ON HIS CLAIMS WEST OF GOODRICH AND EVENTUALLY BECAME PART OF WHAT WAS KNOWN AS "MILTON JUNCTION," NOW THE WESTERN PART OF MILTON.

ALTHOUGH THIS HOUSE REPRESENTS CRANDALL'S EARLY HISTORY IN MILTON, THERE ARE TOO MANY ALTERATIONS THAT DETRACT FROM ITS HISTORIC INTEGRITY SO THAT IT IS NOT CURRENTLY ELIGIBLE FOR THE NATIONAL REGISTER.

"Crandall-Salisbury House; the original log cabin of the first settlers of Milton was between two large trees in front of the house. The first part of the frame house was built is 1852. Dr. Rachel Salisbury, bought the home in 1925. She was instrumental in starting the Rock County Humane Society, a driving force in the Milton Historical Society, and one of the first to research the Underground Railroad in this area."
