Additional Information: | The newly inventoried property is a combined tobacco and dairy farmstead and consists of a house [227019], dairy barn [227020], tobacco barn [227021], tobacco stripping shed [227022], milk house [227023], chicken coop227024], corn crib [227025], silo [227026], privy [227027], and two sheds [227028 and 227029]. The tobacco stripping shed (AHI #227022) is Front Gabled building on a raised coursed stone foundation with drop siding and a metal roof. The stripping shed is built into the side of a hill. A broad pair of wood doors accesses the walkout basement on the east-facing elevation; concrete steps access a single raised pedestrian entrance on the west-facing elevation. Small windows are present in the foundation as well as the gabled east elevation. An interior yellow brick chimney rises on the east-facing elevation. Based on its appearance, it is likely original to the farmstead, constructed ca. 1890. |
