Additional Information: | The culvert provides a bridge for a driveway. There are limestone railing anchors at each corner and nine square columns that rise from the deck floor to carry two courses of timber rails from anchor to anchor. See also the pool house (#228016). 2014- "The bridge is a very simple, utilitarian, concrete structure oriented on an east/west axis. It spans the Donges Bay Gorge and has a small, rectangular opening that facilitates the passage of water below. The structure is embellished, and modestly at that, only by the limestone railing anchors at each comer, as well as the nine square, columns that rise from the deck floor and carry two courses of timber rails from anchor-to-anchor, across the bridge. At some point, cable was also extended the length of the bridge, intended, quite likely, to reinforce restraining capacity as the timber rails deteriorated." - "Donges Bay Gorge Bridge and Natural Area", WisDOT ID #2984-34-05, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd. (Vogel) (2014). |
