| Additional Information: | This 2-story Commercial Vernacular building was constructed in 1908. It is rectangular in plan with brick, stone veneered, and brick veneered walls and a flat roof with a stepped parapet. The front elevation faces west and is asymmetrical in plan due to uneven fenestration across the first story. The first story contains a central pair of 9-pane shop windows, one doorway, and one boarded-over window opening with decorative shutters. The wall below the shop windows is clad in stone veneer and the remainder of the first-story fagade is clad in brick veneer. A flat roof projects across the fagade above the first story and serves as a second-story balcony with modern wood railings. The second story contains three 1- over-1 windows; each second story bay is separated by vertical brick bands capped in decorative corbelling. The building is in good condition but retains a relatively low degree of integrity due to the loss of original shop windows and first-story wall cladding. Because of its diminished integrity (specifically, the loss of its character-defining shop windows), the building is not a particularly fine representative of Commercial Vernacular architecture. This building has not been previously surveyed. A new AHI record was created. |
