Additional Information: | This 2-story Beaux Arts building was constructed in 1922 as the Citizens State Bank of Loyal. It is rectangular in plan with brick walls and a flat roof. The front elevation faces east and is asymmetrical in plan due to a new arrangement of windows across the first story. The first story contains a new stone veneer with two banks of new shop windows and a glass front door. A shed-roofed awning projects across the fagade above the first story. The second story contains what appears to be an original window opening that has been filled with vertical board siding with a new bow window in the center. A shed-roofed awning shelters the bow window. A simple stone entablature runs the perimeter of the building just below the roofline. The south elevation contains several new 6-over-6 and 4-over-4 windows at the second story with vinyl siding filling the original window openings below. Pilasters capped with stone cartouche detailing are located along the side elevation giving the stylized appearance of a projecting portico. The building appears to be vacant. The current property owners were contacted for information regarding the building's interior, but phone messages were not returned. |
