Additional Information: | October 2014 - This one-story building was constructed in the early 1950s as the Motel Royal and is presently an apartment complex. It is a typical example of the Ranch style of the period, featuring a linear, one-story facade; broad hip roof with wide eaves; and stone veneer exterior. A hip roof wing (which may have been an office originally) projects to the front at the west end of the building, creating an L-shaped footprint. The building is small for a motel. In total, it appears to have eight separate units, six along the front (south) elevation and two along the west (side) elevation. Each front unit has an entry door and pair of one-over-one sash windows. The side units are larger and have multiple window groupings, including picture windows. Parking lots are located at the front and rear of the building. It is not known when the use changed from a motel to apartments. There are no visible physical exterior alterations, apart from a lack of any signage, and the building therefore retains integrity. March 2018 - appearance unchanged since 2014 2022: New roof cladding, otherwise unchanged. |
