Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2019: This house is a cross gabled Spanish Eclectic, and the vivid red clay ludowici tiles and stucco body are characteristic of this style. The house still has its original leaded glass windows and beautiful natural woodwork throughout. Believed to have been built by 1925, this house may have been moved to this location by 1932. Don R. and Theodora Parker are recorded as occupants in 1932. Two years later, the house was acquired by Wade L. and Elsie Cash. The house was purchased by Henry and Henrietta Bykirk in 1939. In 1925, German architect Max Hanisch designed a cinder cement "Terranova Home" for Dr. Harry Voss in Manree Park. Hanisch got much more press for the cinder cement home at 1025 Augusta and his revolutionary home building method. Hanisch had married Paulina Hanisch and they moved here around 1924. |
