Additional Information: | This two-story vernacular residence with Queen Anne influences was built c.1890. It is of frame construction with walls clad in clapboard. The steeply pitched intersecting gable roof is covered in asphalt shingles and has a central brick chimney, and the gable ends are clad in decorative wood shingles. A hip roof porch with turned posts and balusters and scrollwork brackets spans the front (west) facade. The porch shelters a large picture window centered on the front gable, as well as the main entrance, which consists of a half-glazed wood door located at the southwest corner of the front facade. A one-and-one-half-story gable wing extends on the east (rear) elevation. Windows consist of paired, one-overone, double-hung sash with plain wood surrounds. The house is a common example of a vernacular form although it displays decorative elements attributed the Queen Anne architectural style, such as an asymmetrical facade, contrasting wall materials, and porch with turned posts. |
