Additional Information: | 2015- This one-story, modest Colonial Revival-inspired house (1947) represents the transition between Minimal Traditional and the Ranch and is a combination of a side-gabled, central section and an attached, front-gabled, two-car garage to the north and a front-gabled projection to the south. Sheathing includes two types of board siding, as well as stone veneer. At the center, a single door with flanking sidelights and a large picture window is located underneath a porch-like area with turned wooden supports. Windows throughout the remainder of the house are multiple-light, double-hung examples. Assessor’s records indicate that the house was built in 1947 and available city directories identify the home’s first known owner (in 1952) as Frank B. Wilcox. However, by 1955, the owner was listed as Donald B. and LaVern Meeusen. The Meeusens wed in 1948 and had two children. Donald died in 1976 and LaVern, a teacher, remained in the home until her death in 2007. -"CTH C/Duluth Avenue Survey," WisDOT ID #4997-00-63, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd. (Schnell) (2015). |

The 1948 city directory was reviewed; however, there was no entry for 136 S. Duluth Avenue. It is possible that the house was originally built outside of the city limits. |
