Additional Information: | The School Sisters of St. Francis opened in 1912 the St. Mary’s Hill Hospital for the treatment of mental health, alcoholism and drug addictions. The hospital continued to operate into at least the 1980s. 2015- "Located on top of a hill on expansive grounds and surrounded by an ironwork fence, this three-and-one-half-story, Neoclassical-style, brick hospital building rests on a raised basement covered with limestone. The one-story, open porch entrance is supported by paired columns. The side-gabled roof features a front-gabled block at the center that displays prominent eave returns and three cupolas surmounted with crosses. Small, shed-roof window dormers are regularly spaced on the remainder of the roof slope. A large wing projects from the building's rear (south) facade; it contains screened airing porches on each level. Fenestration is regularly placed and consists of replacement windows topped with a brick header adorned with a limestone keystone. Designed by the architectural finn of Brust & Philipp and constructed by the Sterling Engineering Company, the School Sisters of St. Francis opened in 1912 the St. Mary's Hill Hospital for the treatment of mental health, alcoholism and drug addictions. The hospital continued to operate into at least the 1980s. The facility today operates as a school." - "W. Greenfield Ave, S 35th St (west) to S.
