Additional Information: | This 2-story Colonial Revival house was constructed c.1920. It is rectangular in plan with aluminum siding and an asphalt-shingled side-gabled roof. The front elevation faces north and is symmetrical in plan with the exception of a 1- story wing added to the west elevation. A central front door is accessed via a concrete stoop and has a classicallyinspired surround comprised of fluted pilasters on each side and a broken pediment above. Narrow sidelights are located on each side of the front door. On each side of the entrance is a multi-pane bow window. The second story of the fagade contains three regularly-spaced 6-over-6 windows. A large, multi-pane picture window is located in the fagade of the west wing. The building is in good condition, but retains only a moderate degree of integrity due to the addition of aluminum siding throughout. As a representative of the Colonial Revival style, its primary distinguishing features are its symmetrical fagade, accentuated front door, and multi-pane windows. However, its diminished integrity renders it a relatively poor example of the style, especially within the surrounding architectural context of Colonial Revival houses in Marinette (WHPD records 38 others in the city). For this reason, the building is not considered eligible for listing under Criterion C. This building has not been previously surveyed. A new AHI record was created. |
