NOTES
Additional Information:2015
This two-story front gable house was constructed c.1900. The walls are of brick masonry and rest on a concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered in asphalt shingles and features broad overhanging eaves with a simple wooden cornice, and a central, interior brick chimney. Windows are replacement, one-over-one double-hung sash with one large fixed light capped by a stained glass transom on the west side of the front (south) facade. Ornamental cream brick adorns the window and door openings, quoins, and the front gable of the house, which has a stepped pattern along the eaves and a diamond design in the center of the gable. A front and side porch with asphalt-shingled shed roofs supported by classical columns and wood balustrades stand where a wraparound porch was originally located. The porch along the east (side) elevation features a modern wood-clad vestibule entrance.

The decorative red and cream brickwork on this residence is consistent with a tradition among Belgian settlers in nearby Brown, Kewaunee and Door counties. It is likely that this house was either built by Belgians or influenced by their distinctive style.
