Additional Information: | 2015- "This one-story commercial building was constructed in 1925, based on city assessor's records. The building is rectangular in plan, with a rectangular cutaway corner entrance and storefront windows along the front (west) elevation. The building is clad in painted shingles in its bottom portion; an upper false-front extending along the front (west) and sides of the building is clad in vertical boards. A metal awning, supported on knee braces, projects over the sidewalk along the front elevation. Although the building appears to be historic at first glance, nearly all of the elements are modern replacements. All the side windows have been replaced with vinyl casements; the storefront windows are aluminum. The window surrounds are applied over the top of the existing shingle cladding. The front awning and knee braces appear to be new construction, as does the false-front wall , based on materials and trim. No historic photos could be located to verify the historic appearance of the building, but only the shingle cladding appears to be historic." -"CTH S (2nd St), Navarino St to N Water St" WisDOT#4409-12-00, Prepared by UWM-CRM (Justin Miller), 2015. |
