NOTES
Additional Information:This raised Ranch house is covered with a stone veneer and topped with a hipped roof. A lower-level garage is accessed from the south and an exterior staircase leads to a side entrance. The primary elevation of the house fronts Kevenauer Drive and includes a large picture window, as well as two sash openings and a glass block window. Awnings top many of the home’s windows.

This house was built in 1956 by contractor Leonard Schaefer for himself and his wife Betty Jane (nee Stiehl) in in the subdivision named Schaefers Elm Knoll #3, which was platted that same year. The son of Gerald and Edna Schaefer, Leonard, along with his brother Gerald Jr., was involved in Schaefer Bros. Building Co., a contracting business begun by the elder Gerald. In his 2013 obituary, Gerald Jr. was identified as the designer of many of the residences that were built by the firm. The firm’s office is later identified as 15200 W. North Avenue, which is an alternate address for the subject home. Leonard and Betty Jane had three children; Leonard died in July 2014 and the house remains in the Schaefer family.
