Additional Information: | Peter Hirt hired in 1929 architect Frank W. Andree to design this building with one storefront and eight apartments. Hirt owned a concrete brick manufacturing business and completed the masonry work. The Wyle Hat Shop occupied the building in 1931, which soon gave way to the Milwaukee Fruit Market. It was a furniture and appliance store in the 1950s and 1960s. Today, it appears to operate entirely as an apartment building. 2015- "Faced with concrete block, this three-story apartment building has a storefront covered with metal siding pierced with downsized casement windows and a pair of doors. The upper floors each contain two tripmiite sets of one-over-one, double-hung sashes. Rectangular tile mosaic panels lay above the second-floor windows, while two additional panels are situated underneath raised segmental arches above the third-level windows. Each arch displays a heavy raised scrollwork pendant. Other ornamentation includes three raised vertical bands and a horizontal row of ornamental concrete block underneath the building's plain cornice. The sidewalls are built with common brick.
