Resurveyed July 2015: Changes include the replacement of the front door and side panels.

This 2 1/2 story Shingle Style house was constructed in 1909. It is irregular in plan with wood shingle walls and a woodshingled
gable roof. The front elevation faces north and is asymmetrical in plan with a dominant front-gabled bay
spanning most of the fac;:ade. At the base of this bay is a single front door flanked by glass panels on each side. On
either side of this are banks of tri-part windows consisting of a central picture window with narrower single-pane windows
on each side; single-pane transoms are located above each. The bay above the first story projects slightly with wood
beams located along the projecting edge. The projecting bay contains a single 8-over-8 window and a three-sided bay
window containing 4-over-1 side windows and a 12-over-1 center window. East of this is a pair of 6-over-1 windows.
Below the center gable is a recessed bank of three 8-over-1 windows.

The building is in good condition and retains a high degree of integrity. As a
representative of the Shingle Style, the house displays all of the characteristic details typically associated with this
relatively rare architectural style. These include the namesake wood shingle wall cladding throughout, asymmetrical
facade, a steeply-pitched roofline with a prominent cross gable, multi-level eaves, and multi-over-one windows. Because
it is an excellent representative of Shingle Style architecture, unique within the architectural context of Marinette (the 1991
intensive survey report indicates that 2607 Riverside Avenue is the only Shingle Style house in the city) and likely within
the wider context of Marinette County, the building is considered eligible for listing under Criterion C.
Adjacent to the property, the existing roadway will be narrowed by approximately 2ft. The existing curbline will move 1-2
ft further away from the property, towards the road centerline. The existing terrace will be widened by 1-2ft towards the
roadway; the existing back (south) edge of terrace will not move. The existing sidewalk will be replaced in-kind; neither
the dimensions nor the location of the sidewalk will be altered. No easements or right-of-way acquisition will occur, nor
will the spatial relationship between the house, its front yard, and the roadway be significantly altered. Since the proposed
project activities have minimal potential to affect the house, its setting, or any of its character-defining features, a DOE is
not recommended.

This building was previously surveyed in 1975 and 1991. Subsequent changes include the replacement of the front door
and sidelight panels. The AHI record was updated with the new survey date and changed appearance.
