Additional Information: | CENTRAL SQUARE 3 STORY ENTRY TOWER TOPPED BY 1 STORY CUPOLA TOWER, CUPOLA & ROOFEAVES W/ SCROLL CUT BRACKETSCHURCH ORIGINALLY W/ CLAPBOARD SIDINGROUND ARCH STAINED GLASS WINDOWS W/ MOULDED LINTELS 2023 update: St. Mary's, church was nearly complete in early fall 1871, burned to ground during Peshtigo Fire, October 8, 1871. Rebuilt in 1872. Burned to the ground again March 19, 1927 and rebuilt reusing the existing foundation. Congregation moved to new location in 1956, the building was converted to the Peshtigo Fire Museum in 1960. Adjacent cemetery is listed on the National Register and has a mass grave of unidentified fire victims, in addition to graves of known victims who also died in the fire. |
