DOOR SURROUND W/FLUTED DORIC PILASTERS AND MOULDED CORNICE SURROUND W/BROKEN SCROLL PEDIMENT W/URN MOTIF. 8/1 WINDOWS. 2 STORY SIDE BAY W/CNR PILASTERS AND EXPOSED RAFTER ENDS. 1998- "The Yeazel House is a two-and-one-half story frame Colonial Revival residence and was built in 1926. The house is finished with wood shingles and exhibits a hip roof accented with four hip roof dormers. The foundation is stucco over poured concrete. A c.1926 contributing garage is found to the rear of the house. Description The Yeazel House is located on the southeast corner of Maple and Beebe Streets. There is a circular drive in front of the house. The main facade faces north toward Maple Street. The north-facing facade is symmetrical with a door centered between four windows on the first story. The second story has five windows, four of which are eight-over-one sash. The final window is smaller and is centered between the other four. All of the windows are eight-over-one, double-hung sash. The second-story windows are flanked with paneled shutters with a fleur-de-lis cutout. The central door displays a broken pediment with an urn and two fluted doric pilasters. The three-panel, wood, front door likely is original. The hip roof dormer hs two, six-over-one, double-hung sash windows. A two-story porch is attached to the west-facing facade of the house. The north and south facades of the two-story porch are identical with one eight-over-eight sash window centered between two, four-over-four sashes at each story. The west facade has three, eight-over-eight sash windows at each story. Decorative pilasters and exposed rafters provide ornamentation. The porchroof is flat. A hip roof dormer with two, six-over-one windows is found on the roof of the main house. Three additional windows appear on the main house, south of the porch. Two of the windows are six-over-six and located on the second story. The third is six-over-one and is located at the first story. The rear (south-facing) facade is asymmetrical and dominated by a large hip roof dormer and a brick chimney covered in ivy. The hip roof dormer has an arched, fixed window with numerous lights in the top half. Immediately below the dormer is a slightly-projecting section with an eight-over-eight sash window and a smaller three-over-three sash window. Both of these windows are located below the floor level and may indicate he location of a stairway. The second story is pierced by five windows- paired six-over-one sash, eight-pane casement, and two, eight-over-one sash. The first level shows two, six-pane casement windows, and four, paired six-over-one sash windows. A hipped-roof, enclosed entry is visible from this facade. It projects slightly from the house and is located on the southeast corner. The door has six panes of glass and is toppoed by a twelve-pane transom. An eight-pane sidelight is located west of the entry. The east-facing facade exhibits a hip roof dormer with two, six-over-one sash windows. The second story shows two, eight-over-one sash windows with decorative shutters. The first story is dominated by an enclosed entry (the entrance faces south) and a pair of six-over-one sash windows. Six, four-over-four windows pierce the east facade of the entry and two, four-over-four pierce the north facade. The interior was not viewed. The contributing garage, located to the rear of the property, is a simple one-story cube building with a pyramid hip roof. The garage door is a modern overhead door with four narrow windows. Two carriage lantern lights are located on either side of the garage door. A pedestrian entry is found on the west facade. Alterations The Yeazel House appears unaltered." -"Yeazel House", Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc., (Kathryn E. Franks and Elizabeth L. Miller), (1998). |
