Additional Information:2016 - Large Filer & Stowell complex contains c.1940 office, and numerous c.1890 four-story lofts and shop sheds at rear. Office has cream brick walls with brick pilasters and stone accents, stone entryway bears company name. Loft building has corner tower, large fluted brick smokestack, corbelled cornice and segmental arch windows covered with fiberglass. Covered passage connects both blocks. Long production sheds extend to rear, monitor roof and pilasters on brick walls. Smaller sheds at rear of complex. Many original metal windows, some replacement or covered openings. At rear of east block, a foundry shed with original curtain wall windows extends, with a service rail to production shed opposite. Furnace block with chimney has glazed block and cream brick walls, original wood doors and metal windows, freight hoist at upper level. Small outbuilding at northeast corner has date stone reading 1909.
