NOTES
Additional Information:In 1955, the City of Wauwatosa purchased 120 acres on the recently annexed west side for a City Public Works facility. A large public works building and incinerator were completed in 1961 on the site. The incinerating plant was designed by Greeley and Hansen Engineers. A fire department training facility and nearby police department building were added in 1966. The site also contains assorted sheds, storage buildings, domes, and fueling stations, most of which were likely constructed in the mid-1960s or early 1970s. The City burned much of the garbage that came to the yard at this location and buried the ash nearby in a landfill. Public opposition and the EPA ceased the burning of garbage in 1973. The adjacent landfill was closed in 1990.
