Additional Information: | 2016- "Smith Furniture, a one-story commercial storefront, was constructed c.1900. It is clad in rubble stone and cream brick with a pressed metal parapet along its flat roof. Mid-twentieth century fixed storefront windows in aluminum casing with a red brick knee wall span the front (east) facade. The storefront is capped by a large, modern metal awning. Ornamentation includes brick quoins and corbelling along the sides and top of the facade and dentils and fleur-de-lis on the parapet. According to the 1919 Sanborn map of Pardeeville, this property has served as a furniture store since the early twentieth century. Most recently it was known as Smith Furniture; the store was owned by Merwyn Smith and then his daughter Gena Smith. The family also operated the local funeral home. Smith Furniture closed in late 2016." -"STH 22: STH 16-CTH CM/Barry Rd", WisDOT#6050-00-01, Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc. (2016). |
