Additional Information: | 2017- "This Contemporary school building was constructed in 1952. Designed by Childs and Smith of Chicago, this one-story building was constructed with a poured concrete foundation, flat roof, and face brick walls. Originally consisting of 12 classrooms, the school was later expanded to the west and south with more rooms and a new entrance. Common features throughout the building include deep overhanging eaves and aluminum windows with plain concrete sills. The primary entrance faces southwest and features a random ashlar, cream stone veneer. Windows in the northern, oldest portion of the school are arranged in groups of three, with fixed, single-paned transoms and upper sashes, and operable hoppers below. Windows in the new portions of the building are similar, but more commonly grouped in twos and at times lack transoms. The latest addition to the school, completed in 2010, included a new gymnasium attached to the southern end of the building." -"City of Manitowoc Boundaries", WisDOT#1500-37-00, 1500-47-00, 4560-12-00, Prepared by Kelly Noack, (2017). |
