Additional Information: | This Contemporary elementary school was constructed in 1964 and designed by the Warren Holmes Company of Lansing, Michigan. Located on a large lot near the southern boundary of the city, this school has a concrete block foundation and red face brick exterior walls with a flat roof with no overhanging eaves. Windows throughout are arranged in groups of two or four double-hung windows with transom lights above. The original section of this school was constructed in a cruciform shape, and is particularly notable for the hexagonal shape of its classrooms on the interior. Additions to the school in 1980 and 1992, obscured the original entrance and did not continue with the hexagonal layout. These additions included a new entrance, recessed under a gabled awning, and a two-story gymnasium. |
