NOTES
Additional Information:2017- "This two-story, brick-sheathed commercial/residential structure is topped with a hipped roof and features stepped gable dormers along its primary (west) and south elevations. The entrance elevation includes a central and boarded over storefront; however the central, recessed entrance is still evident. Doors to the north and south provide access to the upper-level apartments. A flat-roofed overhang with a decorative metal railing runs above the first floor and is reinforced to the building via metal cables. A modified rectangular window opening topped with a brickwork header and a central keystone is located to either side of a series of five round-arched, double-hung windows all set beneath a brickwork header with keystone. A second-story bay projects from the center of the second floor of the south elevation, while banks of double-hung sash are located to either side.

Designed by Herman H. Bruns and completed in 1925, this building was erected at an approximate cost of $22,000. Real estate man Robert Siehr (d. December 1966), the building’s owner, occupied one of the two storefronts, as well as one of the original upper-level flats. By no later than 1928, the other storefront was occupied by Mueller Radio. In 1937, a permit suggests that the upper floor was further divided to provide for an additional tenant; the design work was completed by architect Harry Bogner. Siehr continued to run his office out of the building through at least 1940 (as well as live in one of the flats). As of 1940, the other storefront space was utilized by Anita Weber as a beauty salon; she also resided in one of the building’s three apartments during her tenure there. After she left in 1946, Economy Building & Loan Association moved into the space from its former quarters at 3580 N. Teutonia and remained in the building through 1970."
