Additional Information:THE LA CROSSE PUBLIC LIBRARY IS A TWO STORY, BRICK, FLAT ROOFED CONTEMPORARY STYLE BUILDING, CONSTRUCTED IN SECTIONS OVER THE YEARS. THE ORIGINAL SECTION WAS BUILT IN 1967. WITH A BEQUETHMENT FROM THE SWARTHOUT SISTERS, AN 18,000 SF ADDITION WAS MADE IN 1980 AT THE EAST END OF THE LIBRARY, HOUSING A SMALL MUSEUM SPACE AND LOCAL HISTORY COLLECTIONS. IN 1995 ANOTHER MAJOR ADDITION WAS DONE, ADDING A SECOND STORY TO THE SWARTHOUT MUSEUM SPACE, AND A SECOND STORY TO THE SOUTH. THIS LIBRARY SERVES AS THE MAIN BRANCH OF THE LA CROSSE LIBRARY SYSTEM.
