Additional Information: | This barn stands on the historic C.E. Meredith farmstead. Only the house on this property was previously inventoried in the AHI (227236). County records indicate the barn was built in 1900. The barn has an asphalt shingle front-gable roof, sliding door in the gable-end, and vertical wood cladding. The second, smaller barn’s west end adjoins this barn on the north end of its east wall. The buildings form two sides of a small fenced stockyard. A silo, abandoned and missing its dome roof, stands along the west side of the barn. The barn was not readily visible from the public ROW, and part of its evaluation included comparison of aerial overviews of the property from 1974 (https://vintageaerial.com/photos/wisconsin/kenosha/1974/KKE/36/17) and ca2018 Google Maps 3D aerial imagery. The barn is not individually eligible. The farmstead as a whole is also recommended not eligible for listing in the NRHP. |
