Additional Information: | This building stands on the historic Mike Hensgen farmstead. While the house and two small outbuildings stand in Section 9, this and most of the farm buildings stand in Section 10. This wide rectangular building was built in 1950. It is comprised of three two-story front-gable sections alternated by two one-story side-gable sections. The two western gable-ends have loft hoods; the end bay is comprised of two steel garage doors surmounted by a central wood loft door with a small four-pane square window set on either side. The second front-gable bay has one pair of narrow windows downstairs, and three windows upstairs. The front-gable bay on the east end has a single tall garage door, offset by a small window and wood pedestrian door. A six-pane window is set in the gable-end. The first side-gable bay has a tall interior chimney. Half of its façade is not fenestrated; the east have has a band of three narrow windows, a modern steel pedestrian door with window, and a single-frame window. The second side-gable bay has a large wood sliding door offset by a single-frame window. The building is constructed of concrete block. It has vinyl siding on the upper floor walls and asphalt shingle roofs. A 1974 image of the farm indicates the one-story bays along the façade have been altered; at the time, each had a single garage door. This barn is not individually eligible. The farmstead as a whole is also recommended not eligible for listing in the NRHP. |
