NOTES
Additional Information:Surveyed in July 2020 by UWM-CRM as part of the WisDOT USH 63 reconstruction project.

This one-story Art Moderne-style commercial building was built around 1938 as an addition to an older frame building on the site. The storefront addition measures about ten feet deep; however, no information was available regarding the interior due to COVID-19 restrictions. The storefront is clad in polished black structural glass with two orange horizontal stripes at the top of the façade. A small enameled sign reading “Wyler / incaflex / QUALITY WATCHES” is located on the surface of one of the glass panels at the left (north) side of the façade. The storefront retains its original openings, including the recessed entry, but the windows and doors are modern aluminum-framed replacements. A thin horizontal canopy and retractable awning is located across the top of the storefront windows. A modern sign reading “RadioShack / DEALER” is located at the top of the façade; the sign is not attached the to the glass façade but instead is mounted to a pipe frame attached to the parapet wall. The nineteenth-century frame building is partially visible behind the Art Moderne storefront addition.

The Art Moderne storefront was built as a shallow addition to an existing building on the site. The existing building was a Gabled Ell commercial building constructed sometime between 1893 and 1899. Sanborn maps indicate it was used as a repair shop until at least 1936. The Art Moderne storefront addition is visible in a 1939 aerial photo.
